More details Donate nowHunger, caused by drought, wars, natural disasters, and economic crises, threatens human life on a global scale. According to United Nations data, 815 million people worldwide suffer from hunger. Warnings have been issued that hunger is at an 'alarming' and 'serious' level in dozens of countries. People are losing their lives due to drought and hunger-related causes.
Through our food aid campaign, we deliver food packages to tens of thousands of people in need in dozens of countries, both before Ramadan and during other months of the year.
Food parcels generally contain basic food items such as rice, pasta, lentils, cooking oil, sugar, flour, powdered milk, tea, fruit juice, and dates. The contents of the parcels vary depending on the food items consumed in the countries where they are distributed.
The hadiths specify from which goods and in what quantity the zakat al-fitr should be given. However, due to differences in the scales used at that time and variations in the use of goods, Islamic scholars have stated that the current amount of zakat al-fitr should be at least enough to cover one person's daily food needs. The current amount of zakat al-fitr per person is 10 Euros.

The Food Package Campaign is a humanitarian aid initiative led by HASENE and implemented in collaboration with local partners, adhering to the principle of locality. The main goal of the campaign is to combat hunger, help those in need, contribute to their education, and promote solidarity among communities. To this end, we aim to deliver basic food items to those in need by distributing food packages before Ramadan and throughout the year. In some regions, we establish soup kitchens to provide hot meals to those in need. These soup kitchens specifically target the most disadvantaged segments of society. Through our mobile soup kitchens, we reach a wider geographical area with aid. This ensures that those in need in different regions also receive support. As part of the Food Package Campaign, we also organize special activities for orphans. Supporting orphans is a significant part of our humanitarian work. We also contribute to education through the campaign. €5 of every food package donation supports educational activities, helping those in need to look to the future with more hope. In short, the Food Package Campaign aims not only to extend a helping hand, but also to contribute to the basic food needs and education of those in need as part of the human family.
Yes, we prioritize specific areas each year. We determine these priorities based on global developments and through workshops with our partners. The results of our most recent workshop showed that the needs of war victims in regions such as Palestine, Ukraine, and Sudan are at a critical level. This practice helps us focus more on the purpose of our campaign and provide more effective assistance to those in need.
The primary criterion is the principle of locality. It is extremely important for us that our partners possess local knowledge and expertise in the regions where they operate. Their ability to understand regional conditions and accurately identify needs is valuable. For this reason, HASENE collaborates with reputable and experienced humanitarian organizations based on the principle of locality. These collaborations increase our capacity to provide greater support to those in need and contribute to our humanitarian aid better responding to local needs. When collaborating with partner organizations, we primarily focus on their stable and reliable track record. We assess their capacity to deliver consistent and reliable aid to those in need. Our partners must respect human rights, embrace ethical principles, and be committed to humanitarian values. This is crucial for the fair and ethical distribution of aid. We expect our partners to be open and transparent about their activities. This reflects our ability to be accountable and report to our donors and stakeholders.
HASENE employs various mechanisms to closely monitor the activities of our partners throughout the campaign and to ensure that aid is distributed effectively. This verification and monitoring process helps us ensure that humanitarian aid reaches its intended recipients correctly. Firstly, observers we send monitor the campaign process on the ground. These observers assess whether aid is reaching those in need accurately. They also oversee the procurement and distribution processes and strive to ensure transparency at every stage. In areas where we cannot send observers due to security concerns, we employ third-party organizations to provide control and monitoring. These third-party organizations ensure continuous monitoring of the campaign and the effective distribution of aid. For example, in the Gaza and Palestinian war zones, we cooperate with organizations that are active, such as UNRWA. This ensures that aid reaches its destinations despite security concerns. In addition, we request regular reports and updated information from our partners. These reports provide us with current information on the progress of the campaign and ensure that aid is used effectively. At HASENE, we meticulously implement monitoring and control mechanisms to ensure that aid is distributed effectively and reaches those in need. This helps us maintain the trust of both our donors and those in need.
